The Peterborough Jr. Varsity Wolverines continued to position themselves for a post-season playoff opportunity by defeating the Brampton Bulldogs 47-7 on Sunday at the Terry Fox Stadium in Brampton.
The Jr. Varsity Wolverines scored their sixth straight victory after an opening season loss to Scarborough and have a 6-1 record with one game remaining in the Ontario Football Conference regular season.
The Jr. Varsity squad will host Sudbury in a 2 p.m. contest as part of a Wolverines triple header Saturday at the Thomas A. Stewart Field on Armour Rd.
Both the Wolverines Bantams and Sr. Varsity teams were idle this weekend, however, the Bantams recorded a 6-0 win due to a forfeit by the Etobicoke Bantams.
The Bantams will close out their season on Saturday in the opening 11 a.m. home triple header game against the Brampton Bulldogs.
The Sr. Varsity Wolverines will finish their season on Saturday with a 5 p.m. game against the visiting Sudbury Gladiators.
The Jr. Varsity Wolverines were dominant from the opening kickoff and quickly scored and easily built a 30-0 lead at the half. The Wolverines were able to play everyone and closed out the contest with a convincing 47-7 win.
Scoring for the Wolverines were Kurt Cantello with two touchdowns and scoring single touchdowns were Daniel Corrigal, Thomas Switzer, Mack McFarlane and Brett Bjorgan.

The Wolverines Jr. Varsity squad can secure the second seed position for the playoffs with a victory over the Sudbury Gladiators on Saturday that would give them a convincing 7-1 record.
If they win, they will host a first round game on July 28. Their opponent will be determined by the results of this final regular season OFC weekend. The playoff matchups will be announced after the results are recorded and the seeds are determined.
